Here on the West Coast of Canada, we can sometimes go for days without seeing the sun. That lack of sunshine and its inherent Vitamin D not only affects our health, but it affects our mood too. Need a way to bring some sun into your life? Try this! Is it healthy? No. Does it use locally grown food? No. At this time of year, many of us often escape to the sunshine of California, Mexico, or Hawaii, or we try our darndest to bring it home into our kitchen. The sprig of rosemary in this drink is a must. It contributes no flavour, but the fresh whiff of wintery evergreen adds to the brightness of this drink.
1/4 cup of clementine juice (2 clementines)
1/2 oz. of lemon juice (juice from 1/2 small lemon)
1/2 oz. Triple Sec or Cointreau
1 1/2 oz. vodka
sprig of rosemary
Moisten the rim of the glass with a little orange juice. It will help the sugar adhere more effectively than water. Combine lemon zest and sugar on a small plate. Invert the glass into the sugar mixture to coat the rim.
Pour the juices, Triple Sec and vodka into a shaker. Shake and pour over ice.
